2016 DOA Designer's Challenge entry for Nyotengu

Team Ninja held another costume design challenge earlier this year and I participated with six entries, this is my fifth one. (The first one was for Honoka, second one for Mila, the third one for Akira Yuki and the fourth one for Pai Chan.) I participated through Twitter, so you see here my Twitter handle (@ChromarinArt) instead of my usual signature.

Most of my entries are not the most polished ones in terms of anatomy, since I wanted to express my design idea first of all (and finish them all on time, something that I struggled with in the previous contests).

Design notes: "Tamamo no Mae" is the name of a nine-tailed fox, quite important Japanese mythological creature (more about her on Wikipedia). It has strong connection to the Heian age of Japanese history, which is incidentally my favorite period of Japanese history, so I really wanted to make a Heian noble attire outfit for Nyotengu.
The outfit itself references juuni hitoe, the clothes of Japanese court ladies of the Heian age, though it is (obviously) very heavily stylized and not exactly historically accurate.

This is my favorite design and actually the design that I wanted to make since the last contest! (I did not manage to draw it back then, though.) And if I may say it so, I am very proud of the "tail wings" idea! XD
